Terms of Service

Version 2026-08-04 · Effective date: 2026-08-04

Welcome to mealheiro. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the mealheiro application and website (the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by the mealheiro project (the "Operator", "we", "us"). Contact: support@mealheiro.app.

2. What the Service is — and what it is not

mealheiro is a personal finance record-keeping tool. It lets you manually record accounts, transactions, categories and labels, and view summaries and charts of the data you enter.

The Service does not provide financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. Nothing displayed in the Service — including balances, charts, summaries or categorisations — constitutes advice or a recommendation. The Service does not connect to your bank and does not execute payments. You are solely responsible for any financial decisions you make.

3. Eligibility and your account

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service.
  • You must provide accurate registration information and keep your credentials confidential. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
  • One account per person; accounts are personal to you.

4. Your data

You own the financial data you enter into the Service. We claim no rights over it beyond the limited licence needed to store, process and display it back to you in order to operate the Service. You can export a machine-readable copy of your data, and you can delete your account and all associated data at any time, from the Settings page. How we handle personal data is described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • use the Service for any unlawful purpose;
  • attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other users' data, or the systems on which the Service runs;
  • probe, scan, overload, disrupt or interfere with the Service or its security features;
  • scrape, resell or redistribute the Service, or use it to build a competing service;
  • upload malicious code or content you have no right to use.

6. Availability and changes to the Service

The Service is provided free of charge and on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and we may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. Where reasonably possible we will give advance notice of discontinuation so you can export your data.

7. Disclaimer of warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and accuracy of the data presented. Figures shown by the Service are derived from the data you enter and may contain errors.

8. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Operator shall not be liable for indirect or consequential damages, loss of profits, or loss of data arising from the use of, or inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for gross negligence, wilful misconduct, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law. If you are a consumer in the European Union, the mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence remain unaffected.

9. Termination

You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or that create risk for the Service or other users. Upon deletion of your account, your personal data is erased as described in the Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version and effective date are shown at the top of this page. For material changes we will notify you in the application or by email before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you also benefit from the mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings in the courts of that country. The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
